By carrying out this project, we wanted to discover and use the mission that is very often hidden behind art and raise youth’s awareness on its roots, fields and powers. We wanted to use art as a tool to spread views, simply by coming back to the way it has been used by entire nations for centuries. We wanted to rediscover that function to disseminate values such as tolerance and inclusion. We wanted to create against hate. In this way, the idea of a project that would join forces of several dozen young active people from various European countries was born. But why would we join forces? Firstly, to learn more about art, what functions it performs, what its methods and fields are, and what these spheres look like in other countries participating in the project. Secondly, to share our own experience, abilities and talent, and to have the opportunity to present them on the international stage. This was an opportunity to confront our thinking about art and its messages with the thoughts of our peers from other parts of the world and to compare perspectives, in particular views on the problems of social exclusion, intolerance and xenophobia. The project was a field for us to share our understanding of the function of art, its boundaries, powers, freedoms and limitations, and censorship. We have also discovered how our art overlapped throughout the history, that it had so much in common, that the hate between the nations is simply senseless. We aimed at allowing the group to notice the potential in art as a tool for communicating the ideas of peace, integration, inclusion and tolerance. Therefore, we encouraged to create. Because of course, observation, learning, and the exchange of views and experiences on an intercultural level have finally been crowned with the creative process!
