Objectives

"Amazing Stories - STOP THE FRAME" was a project that aimed to address increasing intergenerational differences and a lack of mindfulness and care for our planet in an ecological context. We all have our own stories, big and small, but the Earth has the most to "tell," speaking only through our words and gestures. It's our concern for this unique piece of the Universe that makes us heroes. Whether in our neighborhood, our own garden, visiting a neighbor, or by the golden waters far from our homes, we wanted to pause for a moment. To listen to others, give ourselves the chance to better understand one another, find common topics, and even though there may be a difference in age, it doesn't mean that what was once important to someone is now different or unnecessary. The only thing that changes is the perspective and the natural conditions surrounding us. Trees grow, providing more shelter to those in need, just as the wisdom of older people and their experiences can protect us from something we don't want. Communication. A crucial and challenging word. A word that needs to be filled with action. A word that allows us to be together. Interaction is not the same as spending time with someone; it involves asking, conversing, and trying to understand. Communication is action and reaction, just like in a movie or a play. In undertaking the "Amazing Stories - STOP THE FRAME" project, we wanted to draw attention, especially from young people, to the intergenerational differences in how we communicate with older individuals, understand each other, and approach the planet we live on. The first aspect was bridging the intergenerational gap through conversations and listening to what the older generation had to say. Their stories served to stimulate the imagination of the young and build upon them a "continuation" of the stories they heard. During meetings and discussions, participants were tasked with discussing ecological topics stemming from their concern for the planet. We wanted to show the older generation that the youth are listening and also have something to contribute. We planned for these conversations to be recorded in an engaging way for the youth, inspiring them to develop new skills in recording and conveying messages. The stop-motion films that resulted from this process were presented during exchanges and proved to be a wonderful medium for conveying ecological and historical content. It was also a unique way to convey the thoughts and dreams of both the older and younger participants who were directly and indirectly involved in the project. We managed to repurpose waste, discuss water issues, incorporating our interviewees' stories and adapting them for our project's needs. Nieborów, as we had envisioned, turned out to be the perfect place to carry out this project. It's a town away from larger cities but frequented by tourists who discover the history (Nieborów Palace and Arkadia Park) and the charms of nature. On the other hand, the town can sometimes feel quiet, as if nothing is happening. However, we managed to create a bit of magic there and discover new spaces in this semi-sleepy, sun-drenched town. In addition to the planned goals, we embarked on a kind of time travel due to the opportunity to participate in archaeological excavations that were taking place in the Nieborów area at the time. During our project, we had the honor of hosting Mrs. Ewa Parandowska, the wife of the late Piotr Parandowski. During the meeting, Mrs. Ewa shared the story of her great and beautiful love for Mr. Piotr Parandowski and her love for art and archaeology. Thanks to this encounter, many participants could see that love and passion in life apply to everyone regardless of age.
