Objectives

The inspiration for choosing the topic and place of the project were cyclical activities combining social prevention with cultural education, undertaken for several years by the FILMFORUM Association in Radom. Radom is a city of many social problems, where phenomena such as exclusion, poverty and unemployment are particularly acute. In such a socially difficult area, FILMFORUM organizes a summer film event called KAMERALNE LATO, the formula of which is unprecedented in Europe: a unique partnership with the Polish Police allows for building a valuable cultural offer as part of this event and developing innovative prevention programs implemented through the film art. For several years, the FILMFORUM Association has been enabling young people to cooperate directly with police experts in the field of social prevention, the aim of which is to educate in the field of counteracting harmful behavior and social problems characteristic of modern European societies (alcoholism, psychoactive substances, cyberbullying, peer violence, etc.). In recent years, young people have made short films devoted to preventing these phenomena, which have taken the form of reportages, social advertisements and short film etudes. Various audiovisual works created as part of this cooperation were widely used in social campaigns conducted in Poland and partner countries. This contributed to encouraging subsequent groups of young people to implement their own projects in an international group and using modern tools. Young people under the care of the organizations participating in the project, inspired by the mission of partner organizations and ventures undertaken by their peers and older colleagues, proposed an international youth exchange dedicated to the educational role of film art, which can have an effective impact on the attitudes of recipients and distract them from socially negative activities. As part of the project, young people intended to conduct research in partner countries on film culture products with a significant pro-social dimension, against intolerance, counteracting social threats and pathologies, and to carry out their own social film campaigns. During meetings with leaders of communities dealing with social inclusion and broadly understood prevention, young people had the opportunity to learn about the problems faced by modern "street educators" on a daily basis. They were surprised to find that work for people at risk of social exclusion has significantly changed its nature in recent years, especially in the context of problems affecting young people. "Digital natives" - this term best reflects the nature of the bond that connects modern, young people and the global network. For those who were born after 1995, the smartphone, messenger and social media are the most natural platforms for contacting each other. Unfortunately, while the Internet carries a huge load of important and valuable information, it also has its dark side. The web has also become a field for violence, aggression and toxic social relationships. Pathostreamers and pathoinfluencers shine on YouTube, Instagram and Tik Tok. In closed groups on Facebook, there is bullying of unliked colleagues. In this way, the problem of intolerance and exclusion of individual social groups - due to ethnic origin, low material status or political views, is transferred to the virtual world. The young people who came up with the concept of the project considered this problem to be important and requiring continuous actions, the aim of which will be to make the society aware of the values resulting from diversity and universal values that connect all European inhabitants. As part of the project, young people intend to carry out a series of activities using the popularity and eloquence of visual arts in order to initiate positive social changes, increase the level of tolerance and respect for mutual differences, and sensitize their peers to the harm caused by acts of violence, hate and aggression on the Internet. The name of the project: "Together - ToGetThere" refers to the desire to jointly create a tolerant Europe in which there will be no social consent to discrimination based on gender, ethnic origin, religion or other social differences. The project is a grassroots voice of young people, disagreement with the spread of hate, hate speech and stigmatization of people with different views or origins. The assumption of the project was to search for valuable audiovisual content regarding the problem of intolerance, to develop original assumptions for the participants' social campaigns to counteract negative phenomena, to create their own social advertisements and to implement and disseminate them as part of the campaign on the Internet.
