Objectives

The pandemic has turned our world upside down, especially the world of young, talented people or aspiring artists. Without cultural events, meetings, and experiencing the magic of art together, our lives have become poorer. During moments in life like this one, art is exceptionally needed or even necessary. Not only does it provide aesthetic pleasure, but also spiritual experiences, which contemplative art can serve. Human beings, when trapped in isolation, need a connection to beauty which leads to Spiritual Beauty. At the time of the lockdown, there was no other way to present art than through the Internet. Groups of young talented artists came together to search for a remedy to face the pandemic reality; they encouraged one another to create digital works of art and not to give up. Livestreams, TV broadcasts, digital exhibitions – the world of arts used all these paths during the pandemic. There’s some apprehension that those solutions will make it harder for young, unknown artists to enter the market. Although the new reality doesn’t stop young artists’ creativity, they often lack clout, don’t have peer support, and seem to be isolated, not only socially; the world of arts has become for them more closed-off and unobtainable than ever. Young people see the need to discuss digital art, which became more popular during those strange times – how an artist sees it, and how it is seen by potential audience, as well as the promotion of art online, self-promotion, exchange of thoughts, experiences, and observations. Bearing in mind our experience in work with young people, youth initiatives that aim to provide mutual support, or find alternative solutions, are extremely necessary. Thanks to the meetings with peers who have a similar point of view, youngsters’ confidence, motivation, and self-perception, skills, and abilities grow in strength, as well as their readiness to take on new challenges, all of which can be obtained on their path of learning through action and experience – which is the non-formal path. The grassroot youth initiative “A Glimpse into the Future” held a certain symbolic dimension. The exchange of youth aimed to illustrate the perspective of the future through the eyes of a young artist in every aspect of our lives – social, professional, ecological, or interpersonal relations in the form of digital images and murals in urban space. Each mural was not only be a kind of social appeal in the designated area, but also a piece of ambient marketing meant to shock the potential audience of art in a non-standard way. More importantly, it promoted the works of young artists. The efforts of young artists were crowned with an e-gallery in a virtual space. Through the joint initiative, the youth reached the following goals: • raising cultural awareness of the European citizens in the field of digital art • raising intercultural awareness through European integration • spreading the principles of tolerance and respect for every human being, including disabled people • strengthening of European cohesion • exchanging knowledge, experiences, and skills between the project participants • promoting inclusion in the field of broadly understood art through the participation of youth with special needs.
