Objectives

Youth Exchange “Protection from Discrimination” gathered 36 youngsters from Poland, Georgia, Armenia, Greece, Croatia, and Turkey. The main aim of this project was to promote tolerance and non-discrimination among youth. The project’s goals were to raise awareness of issues of inequality and discrimination, to promote youth responsibility, to recognize the signs of discrimination, to encourage young people to be tolerant and active European citizenship, to establish a dialogue between youth from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, networking and participation of youth and organizations, and involvement of young people with fewer opportunities. The background of the project was related to the following: Discrimination exists in every single form- Direct, indirect, verbal, non-verbal, and etc. Young people are very often faced with abusive language, and in most cases, they are not fully aware of its meaning and effects. No one is born with prejudice but rather has the potential to develop it over time. It is crucial to foster the values of equality and non-discrimination among youth and it must be done from an early age through formal and non-formal education. Non-formal education plays a key role in fostering the development of key transversal competencies, especially relevant ones self-reflection, empathy, and mutual respect. This background provoked us to implement the project against discrimination. The youth exchange helped to combat discrimination, promote tolerance, overcome hate speech and raise awareness of the issues and social obstacles of marginalized groups. The Youth Exchange “Protection From Discrimination” took place in Kobuleti. At the end of the project, the outcome was the promotional video to raise awareness about discrimination. With this project, we were able to bring together people from different countries with different backgrounds to meet and overcome prejudice and stereotypes. The project’s objectives are: • Learn how to communicate with others using non-violent communication; • exchange knowledge and examples of good practices with an international group of young people; • To make the participants develop actions that deal with discrimination; • Improve knowledge about other cultures, religions and countries; • Promote youth intercultural dialogue and universally shared values; • Rise solidarity and tolerance through intercultural dialogue; • Overcome stereotypes and intolerance; • Organize workshops about discrimination and intolerance for the local youth; • Build the international network of youth (Facebook page and other social networks); • Improve communication skills in English;
