The idea of this project was to use comics creation as a method to raise the issues of young people, as the need for better knowledge and understanding of how local participatory democracy works. Using comics created a fun and enriching experience of understanding of the processes, structures, systems, roles and responsibilities, rights and own commitment to participatory decision-making processes of young people. Using blended activities of comic creation (on spot production in small groups) and digitalisation of the comic, the interactive comics and videos were considered to be a comprehensible format for this project, easy to be grasped by the youth and adolescents in this digital era. During the training course, interactive comic books and interactive video/digital storytelling tools were provided to the youth workers and youth leaders to work with their target youth groups with an age-tailored, youth-sensitive, user-friendly, informative, educational but also fun experience through an up-to-date communication channel, making the learner into an active explorer who makes choices and decisions on the way as the story develops, and can track the consequences of it and adjust/transform own actions. The project aimed at equipping youth workers and youth leaders with interactive tools, such as developing comics and videos, to raise youth issues and be a chance for them to learn about local government, public bodies operations, their procedures, roles and responsibilities in a community, through a set of stories, choices and decisions, that would open a chance to explore and navigate various possibilities through making different choices. The objectives of the project were: -Enhancing skills of youth workers and youth leaders, how to co-create the content of the comics and videos, become part of the educational material, material which was also in line with edutainment approaches with the young people. - Creating thematic comic books to be used after the project, in further experience of the participants -Replenishing the non-formal education toolbox with a new set of tools for creating and using comics -Coming up with follow-up activities with a participatory co-creation approach, where the educational material was created by a youth-adult group and disseminated by the youth itself in a peer-to-peer way.
