Objectives

The pandemic reality of social media becoming the main place for young people to find information and spend their free time inspired us to implement the project "Social Media Support for NGOs." Through its implementation, we wanted to support youth workers in their activities in this sphere, not least because many of them are not skilled enough in this field - they don't know how to make the best use of the potential of the Internet and online tools to work with young people. We wanted them to have the opportunity to interact with trainers well versed in this field and face reality. Changing trends in social media make it difficult for NGOs to reach and engage young people. Substantive preparation in this aspect was therefore an essential element and what we wanted to achieve through the project. In addition, the goal was also to support the organization in defining an internal communication strategy, which is now the basis of social media activity. An important element that we took into account when preparing the project was also information from our local and foreign partners who do not know how to prepare online communication, which is essential for working with young people, especially during the coronavirus pandemic, which has shifted most activities to remote mode. This situation has left many organizations without content preparation support due to their previous focus on in-person activities. As an organization that has experience in this field and has resources on its team, we were ready to share our knowledge with others. Especially since digital competencies are now among the key ones for lifelong learning. They are essential for total participation in society. We set out to support these competencies - from content creation to digital youth work concepts and online activism. The goals of the project were to increase their awareness on the topic of building their brand as social organizations, how to take care of the needs of their target groups, how to plan content and create valuable social media campaigns. The project was intended to be a form of support (support) for people who work with young people on a daily basis, but have not always had the opportunity to develop themselves in the field of social media communication, whose possibilities and tools are multiplying at a dizzying pace. In summary, the project has strengthened people belonging to youth organizations in the skills of using the media, conducting online communication, creating a communication strategy, as well as armed them with the necessary knowledge of the dangers of them.
