In implementing the project, we aimed to create a safe space for young people to discuss issues with their peers, policy makers and experts. The reason why we undertook the implementation is because there is still an apparent need to have conversations about issues of verbal violence, hate speech and social exclusion among young people. The main aim of the project was to draw young people's attention to the problem of hate speech (as well as the polarisation of views and attitudes resulting from it), to equip young people with tools to recognise such acts of aggression and to develop good practices to help counteract hate speech. Through meetings, talks, but also a socio-educational campaign, we made young people aware of how to include people at risk of exclusion in the community, as well as how to prevent hate speech. Our experience of working with young people acquired during the project shows how important this topic is for them, and through the activities we carried out, i.e. including decision-makers and experts in the discussion, we counteracted stereotypes about the relationship between young people and decision-makers.
