Objectives

The priorities we chose for the realization, clearly define the goals we were striving for: "Creating paths for improving qualifications, improving accessibility and increasing the number of people benefiting from adult education", "Improving access to high-quality educational offers for adults", and "Creating future education centers". The "Active Senior Academy" project (AAS) was a project that responded to the needs of the modern aging society world, which lives in a world with gigantic technological development. "The project's main task was to promote both cultural and educational activities (learning how to use social media, operate a smartphone, or surf the Internet) addressed to Seniors. Realizing this project we wanted to socially, culturally, and technically activate the community. Colloquially, we wanted to get them out of the houses. We implemented the project simultaneously in two ways: we focused on promoting activities addressed to our target group by training and supporting the staff of cultural institutions, as well as we, involved associated seniors with training other employees. The project activities led to one main goal: directly or indirectly - the activation of seniors.

Background

"Active Senior Academy" is a project that responds to the needs of the modern world. An aging society forces activities that educate and activate seniors. That is why the leading organization (that has been carrying out social activities, including international ones, for many years), together with a partnering association from the Czech Republic, based on experiences, decided to prepare activities for seniors and cultural staff. The cycle of educational workshops concentrating on the use of new technologies, artistic and activating workshops for culture-creating seniors, or workshops for cultural staff on preparing the program offers proposals aimed at improving the competencies and qualifications of participants and influencing their development and the quality of life. It also means transferring good practices to other local seniors that are not a part of a project.
