Through international cooperation, we planned to acquire knowledge about proven methods and good practices related to non-formal education, which could be permanently implemented in both partner institutions. The goal was to develop a base of good practices in the field of education and social activation of senior residents, in particular people with fewer educational opportunities. The project fully utilized the potential of both institutions and engaged seniors and educators in a participatory and partnership manner at every stage. We flexibly combined international and national activities in the project. Thanks to the synergistic effect of both institutions, accessibility to education and activation for the most excluded individuals – seniors from rural areas – improved.
The 'Power of Action' project is a response to the search for innovation in the education and activation of adults, mostly seniors, residents of rural areas, and small towns. The project was implemented by the Polish LIS Foundation - Laboratory of Social Inspirations, and the Spanish association INNETICA. Both organizations have been active in the field of education and activation of seniors for years, but each partner carries out its activities in a different way, which provides an interesting complement. The LIS Foundation activates the oldest residents of rural areas and small towns through ideas based on self-help and participation (seniors for seniors). On the other hand, INNETICA activates the oldest residents through the Center of Seniors, online trainings, and the implementation of regional senior’s policies. Thanks to close cooperation, the partners were able to learn and test new methods of working with seniors and expand their offerings with innovative solutions.
