The main goal of the project was to improve the quality of our foundation's activities through the exchange of good practices and skills in project implementation with a more experienced association from Spain. In addition to that, significant objectives were: empowering young women in addressing climate change, raising awareness about the situation of women in crises (especially the migration crisis) through art and technology, supporting non-formal education for youth using engaging technology, providing a platform for dialogue and exchange of experiences for social movements and citizens at the intersection of gender equality and the climate crisis.
We applied for the project implementation on a base of environmental, cultural, and social knowledge and experience, as well as the identified needs of our local communities. The actions in the project were based on a strategy of climate change effects mitigation through activating local communities using technology and art. A significant motivation for us was the situation of migrants in Poland and southern Spain - at the time of our application, a migrant crisis was unfolding at the Poland-Belarus border, and in southern Spain, migrants have long been facing various challenges. Public awareness of these issues is very low, and according to experts, we can expect even larger waves of migration due to climate change. Our project, largely focused on raising awareness about the perspectives of migrants, was anticipatory of this situation. Additionally, it aimed to educate about other consequences of climate change and the evolving living conditions of Global South communities. The events conducted within the project also aimed at activating and empowering participants towards climate activism. In line with the United Nations' recommendations for involving women in such efforts, a portion of the events had a feminist character.
