Objectives

In recent years, the issue of gender disparity has become increasingly prominent on the European Union's agenda, especially regarding the underrepresentation of women in the media industry and the propagation of sexist stereotypes and behaviors. Thus, the "Gender Balance" project was designed to give young people the possibility to reflect on gender inequality, especially regarding its representation in the media, in different contexts depending on the reality of European countries. The project aimed to sensitize participants to recognize discriminatory behaviors, as well as discuss solutions to prevent them and achieve equality, at a time when the media can be used to support social movements. The objectives of the project were: - Promote gender equality among young people; - Use the media as a tool to prevent dangerous behaviors such as hate speech and cyber-bullying among young people, encouraging them to use social media to promote equality and social inclusion; - Promote youth exchanges as a good practice for sharing information and opinions on common problems and needs; - Understand how the media influence society's behavior and opinion towards a group; - Understand the impact of media on young people's perception of their abilities and influence their decision; - Develop young people's skills in working in teams to discuss and find solutions; - Developing young people's skills in communicating in a foreign language; - Promote arts and new technologies as effective tools to raise awareness and combat discrimination.
