MOTIVE Young people are particularly affected by social exclusion. In Europe 1 in 4 young people are currently at risk of poverty and social exclusion (Eurostat, 2021) and in 2019 the EU27 youth population (16-29 years) at risk of poverty or social exclusion was 25.1%, making a total of 18.6 million young people (Eurostat, 2019). In that year there were 2.1 million unemployed young people (15-24 years old) who were not in education. Job loss was one of the biggest impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on young people, increasing their risk of exclusion. Analysis of these indicators reveals that the consortium countries share this problem. Exclusion has marked impacts on the lives of young people: it causes profound and long-term damage to living conditions, participation, emotional life, health, and contributes to the intergenerational transmission of poverty. Insecure living standards, political and social isolation, and unhealthy lifestyles exacerbate the conditions of exclusion, resulting in a vicious circle where socially excluded youth are at greater risk of perpetuating their situation (Youth Social Exclusion and Lessons from Youth Work, EACEA). It also has high costs for society: loss of human and productive potential, decreased tax revenues and increased spending on social protection and health, and undermines young people's trust in political and economic systems and social cohesion (Social Development Brief UN, 2018). The lack of lifelong learning (LLL) and 21st century key competencies is both a cause and an effect of the social exclusion of young people. The inadequacy of formal education and traditional methods in empowering young people, especially those with fewer opportunities (FO) and who are most at risk or in a situation of exclusion, contributes to this deficit. On the contrary, intervention through art enhances inclusion by developing skills in young people in an attractive way and according to their needs. Inclusive arts practices create "creative opportunities between marginalized and non-marginalized people through facilitation and collaboration as a means to challenge existing barriers and promote social change" (Fox, 2010, cited in Austin, 2015). Different artistic fields can contribute to the development of transversal competencies, which will be decisive in preparing young people for the challenges of the 21st century. Non-formal education (NFE) and informal education (EI) methodologies are effective means for developing these competencies in young people, especially with FO, also promoting their socio-professional inclusion. IDEA The project aimed to combat the social exclusion of young people by training youth workers (YT) in the approach of inclusion through art, using NFE and IE methodologies. Through a training course (TC) integrated in an exchange action, we promoted the exchange of experiences, sharing of knowledge, opportunities for reflection and co-creation that fostered the development of competencies in the YW and participating organizations and resulted in quality interventions and more appropriate to the needs of young people. OBJECTIVES General -Contribute to the social inclusion of young people, especially FO youth, through capacity building of YW. Specific: -Promote sharing, discussion and increase of JW knowledge on social exclusion in youth; -Create opportunities for capacity building, reflection, co-creation and implementation of effective and innovative intervention methodologies for youth inclusion through art, NFE and EI; -Promote the recognition and validation of competencies acquired through NFE and FE; -Promote ALV competences for the 21st century and for quality work in YT and enable them to foster them in young people; -Sensitize society to the importance of the arts in the socio-professional development and inclusion of young people; -Motivate and train the YW and other stakeholders to act on the current challenges of the 21st century mentioned; -Disseminate results and impacts achieved for the replication of its good practices in other contexts and raise awareness of the need for investment in these issues.
