The purpose of the “Unlock Skills” project was to help youngsters develop and improve their life skills, so that they feel empowered citizens, well integrated in society and active economically, socially and civically. We focused on the 5 key areas as defined by WHO and UNICEF: decision making and problem solving; critical and creative thinking; self-awareness and empathy; communication and interpersonal skills; ability to cope with emotions and stress. We had set the following objectives for the project period: 1. To develop the life skills of the 48 participants in the 5 key areas through the non-formal activities of the project. 2. To involve participants in promoting non-formal education by creating 6 workshops on skills development and implementing them for other 400 youngsters from their home communities. 3. To encourage lifelong learning and life skills development, especially through international projects, by creating and promoting 5 motivational videos to 3000 youngsters. Through the project, we aimed to help young people to get to better know themselves, to understand their learning needs and the opportunities they have, to motivate them to continuously develop, increasing their chances of employment and inclusion.
