Objectives

In modern society, communication is an essential part of humanity. The world today is characterized by an ever-growing number of contacts resulting in interactions among people with different linguistic and cultural backgrounds. All the time this area developing and it’s almost impossible to find a profession without knowledge of the second language. But people should remember that communication isn’t only about language, it’s something deeper. Nowadays communication takes place in such fields as business, military cooperation, science, education, mass media, entertainment, tourism, even immigration, and employment. Lack of knowledge of another culture cannot only lead to embarrassing or amusing mistakes in cooperation. In the worst situation, such mistakes may confuse or even offend the people we wish to interact with, making the conclusion of business deals or international agreements difficult or impossible. Through our Youth Exchange, we intended to help people to overcome potentially embarrassing problems, resulting from different conventions of behavior, politeness, and gestures. It is really important to increase such partnership relations in all aspects of our lives. All people, especially the young generation, need to be aware of cultural differences in order to develop positive relations and to avoid frustration when dealing with people from other cultures. During the Youth Exchange, we got to know better other cultures and their traditions. Frankly speaking, it was way of developing communication skills involves the exchange of information, thoughts, ideas, and emotions, because the participants communicated all the time during the workshops. Correct Intercultural Communication also helped us to increase our awareness of our own culture.
