Through the Fostering Gender Equality to Combat Stereotypes project, we aimed to offer young people the opportunity to promote and contribute, together with partner organizations, to the development of an inclusive, tolerant society, where equality and respect prevail, where equity is an element community and diversity is perceived as an attribute, not a threat. During the project we supported the promotion of gender equality and European values by encouraging the young participants to take the initiative and contribute in turn to positive changes in local communities. The youth mobility and activities carried out during the project aimed to develop and improve participants' knowledge, skills, behaviors and attitudes about gender equality, so that they recognize how gender stereotypes and inequality directly affect our lives, as well as what actions we can take to promote equality more effectively. At the same time, the participants developed communication, critical thinking and intercultural working skills as a result of the project activities and adopted positive attitudes towards lifelong learning, while becoming active and tolerant citizens. Therefore, the aim of the project was to support young people in deconstructing gender stereotypes and raising awareness of the need for gender equality, to ultimately contribute to building a more inclusive and equal society. The objectives were achieved by organizing a youth mobility for 35 participants (28 young people and 7 group leaders), during which they learned about gender equality through non-formal education (NFE) methods and subsequently by developing a set of recommendations for the EU to reduce of gender inequalities; "10 steps to gender equality" - as part of monitoring and dissemination activities. The specific objectives were: O1. Engaging participants in exploring, reflecting and discussing gender equality and gender stereotypes through the use of NFE tools and methods that encourage critical thinking. O2. Encouraging and supporting participants in developing their own action plan for promoting gender equality in their communities, stimulating civic participation and socially inclusive behaviours. O3. Providing a space where participants can discuss, debate and connect with other young people from different backgrounds. O4. Developing a series of recommendations for European NGOs and decision-makers, as well as for national and local ones, on how to promote gender equality. O5. Supporting capacity building of partner organisations, cooperation and ensuring the sustainability of our networks.
