Objectives

The pandemic, which has swept the world, in addition to the loss of human life, has led to the reduction or cessation of activities in various sectors of the economy. As a result, many people, especially young people, have lost their jobs or are they currently struggling in finding one. According to statistics from the Caras-Severin County AJOFM, the unemployment rate at the end of August 2021 was 2.99%. Of the total of 3189 unemployed, 1,337 are from urban areas and 1,852 from rural areas. Most of the unemployed come from rural communities and are young people. This situation had an impact on young people at personal level too, with them refusing direct communication and not trusting their own strengths. They have become apathetic, uninterested in anything, feeling excluded from society. The prospect of employment became minimal, some of them risking their lives in search of work on the European labor market, also shrinking under the pandemic. In the rural community, there is no longer a sense of civic involvement of young people in its development. From individual and group discussions carried out by members and volunteers of our association with young people, it emerged that the youth would be interested in doing something to contribute to the development of the community in which they were born or live, but they feel that politicians should also do something for them and their community. Lately, agricultural land has been left partially or totally uncultivated, the number of animals in households has decreased, people are giving up their own household products and eating supermarket products. These products have gradually replaced the traditional ones, as people still do not know enough about products and about the conditions that traditional products must meet to be organic. Promoting inclusion social inclusion, combating poverty and any form of discrimination are problems that Romania, like most other Eastern European countries, is facing. This issue is also on the European interest list for the period 2021-2027, under the heading of a more social Europe, to achieve the European pillar of social rights and support quality of jobs, education, skills, social inclusion, and equal access to the social security system and health system. The Green Pact for the EU opens new perspectives and opportunities for action in this area. This document is also a challenge to create new jobs for our young people who are finding it difficult to find work, especially in the current restrictive pandemic conditions. In 2022 it will be celebrated on 23 September as "European Green Product Day". Few young people (1 in 10) have vague information about measures and projects for organic farming. The situation is similar for the number of entrepreneurs. The idea of writing the mobility project came from this summary information gathered from statistics and discussions in the field and the openness of young people to learn how other countries have developed agriculture and entrepreneurship in rural areas. From discussions with our partners, we have concluded that we face the same problems. To improve this situation, our young people wanted to initiate this project because they were concerned about rural communities and marginalized groups, with a particular focus on improving their skills and their image. The aim of our project "Organic farming – entrepreneurship opportunity for young people in rural area" was to stimulate the civic involvement of young people in the development of rural communities by promoting organic farming and entrepreneurship. The objectives of the project were: O1: To enrich the knowledge of 45 young people, from 5 countries, during the exchange, about organic farming and rural entrepreneurship. O2: To develop, during the exchange, the entrepreneurial and innovative skills of 45 young people from 5 countries, by developing business ideas in the community. O3: To stimulate the interest of 45 young people from 5 countries to practice and promote organic farming and entrepreneurship as active civic involvement in rural community development, during the exchange and after the end of the funding. The needs addressed by this project were: reducing unemployment among rural youth, carrying out activities for these young people aimed at increasing their self-confidence and their civic involvement in community development; providing opportunities to facilitate the exchange of experience between young people from the partner countries on organic farming and rural entrepreneurship; acquiring new skills, knowledge and learning competences; promotion of organic farming.
