Objectives

The needs that were identified and needed to be addressed at the beginning of the project’s drafting were: the lack of knowledge related to civic education, rights and obligations of pupils and students; a lack of participation of youngsters in matters that directly implied/affected their rights and representation; a lack of grassroots advocacy campaigns that should have tackled problems close to the students, especially at the level of student organisations, as those seemed more preoccupied with team building activities alone. The objectives of the project were the following: increasing the knowledge of 60 participants with regard to the functioning of European institutions and the interactions between these bodies and youngsters, by having offered concise information about the institutions’ roles and powers, through the non-formal activities and the multiple interactions with decidents; Increasing the accessibility to materials and relevant resources related to lobbying and advocacy for students, those materials, combined with the non-formal methods and the interactions with the decision makers, were meant to offer them the understanding on how to organise an advocacy/lobbying campaign; The development of a positive attitude related to civic involvement for the participants that have taken part in the activities of the project.
