Background

GREEN-COM project derived from the needs analysis that arises from the Romanian and Italian rural areas involved. The transition towards a Green economy requires skilled workers with new green competences in labour market. Climate change and environmental degradation are an existential threat to Europe and the world. To overcome these challenges, the European Green Deal will transform the EU into a modern, resource-efficient and competitive economy, ensuring: no net emissions of greenhouse gases by 2050; economic growth decoupled from resource use; no person and no place left behind. The overarching aim of the European Green Deal is for the European Union to become the world's first “climate-neutral bloc” by 2050. It has goals extending to many different sectors, including construction, biodiversity, energy, transport and food. The link between healthy people, healthy societies and a healthy planet puts sustainable food systems at the heart of the European Green Deal: it is designed to boost the economy, improve people's health and quality of life, and care for nature.
