Objectives

Our primary objectives were to revolutionize graphic design education and promote circular economy principles. We aimed to equip educators, students, and professionals with skills for sustainable design. Through an online training program, manual, and teaching materials, we intended to integrate circular economy concepts into curricula, fostering innovative approaches. Our goal was to enable educators to impart ecological sustainability skills, ensuring graduates are equipped for industry demands. By collaborating with partners and stakeholders, we sought to raise awareness, drive policy changes, and position graphic design as a catalyst for environmental consciousness. Overall, our project aimed to create a paradigm shift in graphic design education, aligning it with the needs of a more sustainable future.

Background

The partners decided to applied for this project to address critical needs in the field of graphic design education. Recognizing the growing importance of circular economy principles, we aimed to equip educators, students, and professionals with sustainable design practices. The industry lacked resources to integrate circular economy concepts effectively. Our project aimed to bridge this gap by developing an online training program, manual, and teaching materials. We sought to empower graphic design educators to impart ecological sustainability skills, enhance curricula, and foster innovative approaches. By focusing on circular economy and involving partners with complementary expertise, we aimed to revolutionize graphic design education, promoting environmentally conscious practices and meeting the evolving demands of the industry. Based on feedback received from VET teachers we found that they do not have much in the way of training on the circular economy, how it can be implemented through graphic design and how it can be introduced in teaching other subjects (Internal survey conducted in 2021 with 60 subjects to determine topics of interest for future courses/projects).
