Project objectives were: -To share information on cleaning and protection of water resources and environment workshops, through visits and seminars for the participants;-To create awareness with different perspectives on the protection of rivers and the fight against environmental pollution; -To give messages that will affect indirect participants and local people about the protection of rivers and the cleanliness of the environment;-To provide young people with a habit of living for active citizenship and healthy life along with the environmental awareness of outdoor activities;- Fostering citizens engagement in the protection of water ecosystems by promoting awareness and knowledge.

Background

We applied with this project as we believe in the power of young people and we consider it important to support young people and show them their voice and actions matter, that they can help save the environment, that even small eco-campaigns and measures can make the change. This project emerged from the common needs of young people from all 3 participating countries to address the issue of water plastic pollution and their side effects on natural ecosystems and human health as well. The river s are seeing a rise in plastic waste, pesticide run off and pharmaceutical waste. One of the newer pollution threats is microplastics, which can affect fish and fish larvae that confuse the particles with food sources All the communities where partner organizations are based, are facing serious problems regarding waste disposal, recycling and waste management. Tons of waste are still disposed in natural places and near water (or even inside the water). After carrying out a analysis with our partners, we concluded that we all have the same problem –young people need to raise their awareness about environmental and climate-change challenges and to take action. So, we decided to join forces and show each other how we work and to learn from eac
