Objectives

The reason why we wanted to carry out this project was the following: Digital technologies have become the most common source, for young people, through which they learn about important events in their community as well as globally. Digital technologies have also developed new approaches to react and respond to these events. Young people as internet consumers are expanding rapidly in the developing world, where new avenues of their fast participation, engagement, and accountability are emerging by doing only one click on the internet. Unfortunately, in most cases, the impact of this instant access to information is detrimental to the lives of youth, leading to conflicts that create serious problems. On the other hand, digital platforms can be a tool that empowers young people, enhance their awareness, and build connections and resilience to promote their peace through positive change. The main motivation to carry out this project was to contribute to building peace through digital sources, we wanted to achieve this by reaching different objectives of the project; The general objective of this project was to gain knowledge and awareness on how to tackle hate speech and eliminate conflicts through digital sources, as well as promote diversity, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect for human rights, and enhance critical thinking of young people. Hence the project aims were: to provide participants with the required competencies on how to promote peace, intercultural dialogue and tolerance and integration through digital sources. To acknowledge the participants with the concept of conflict management, as a tool for the prevention the personal and interpersonal conflicts among youth; to give the participants practical skills and knowledge on how to find the difference between reliable and unreliable information sources. to make the participants able to identify and combat fake news and eliminate hate speech. to increase the knowledge about the concept of peacebuilding and reconciliation; to empower youth and assist in the building of their resilience against hate speech, radicalization and violence;
