Objectives

The main objective of the transnational cooperation was to compare and standardise the quality assessment procedures in the selected fields and to upgrade them with examples of good practices, exchange of experiences, and digitization of the quality assessment process in the chosen fields, which constituted the first steps towards quality assessment in adult education at the transnational level. The project activities have created an optimised quality assurance process for the delivery of non-formal education programmes, identified standard components and differences in the implementation of self-evaluation, and influenced the thinking of adult educators on the importance of assessing and ensuring the quality of all educational services not only at the organisational level, but also at the national and transnational level. Digitization has shortened and facilitated while creating a more organic approach to quality assessment and ensuring that quality assessment in non-formal adult education programmes in the future will be unified at a transnational level and more streamlined as the data generated will be faster and easier to process. The project has thus marked the start of a unification of the quality assessment process.

Background

Quality assurance in adult learning is becoming an increasingly important component of adult learning. Quality assurance has become an integral part of developing adult learning at the national level. In Slovenia and Croatia, a system of internal quality assurance based on self-evaluation is also included in the adult education legislation and, as such, is mandatory for adult education organizations. The information obtained through self-evaluation helps organisations make further decisions on the necessary improvements in the organisation, which in turn means improving the work done so far and demonstrating social responsibility towards the environment in which they operate. The project compared the two quality assessment systems, intending to digitise data on the satisfaction of participants and teachers in adult education. As the two Croatian organisations (POU Čakovec and DANTE) are new to quality assessment, and LU Lendava has many years of experience, we presented our Croatian colleagues with examples of good practice and empowered them to continue to improve the quality of their work in the field of quality assessment.
