Objectives

By implementing the »Digital reality – The future of education« project we wanted to encourage youngsters to spend their free time creatively and to contribute to different projects (with which they identify) through employing their own potentials and skills. We also wanted them to realize the various options and opportunities of the Erasmus+ platform, as well as different ways of participating in international mobility programes. Furthermore, we wanted them to get acquainted with the 'beauty' of investing one's time in different types and forms of volunteer work. It is our firm belief that quality youth projects in the digital age require tailored approaches, which was also our motivation while pursuing this project. The activities were planned accordingly, encompassing the (interpersonal and intercultural) sharing of ideas and experience with digital technology, as well as modern youth work techniques and tools, especially digital. It was our goal to encourage the local youth to actively participate in our workshops, thus raising their digital skills and competences, their awareness of digital (in)security, media literacy, etc. In short: we wanted to equip them with the necessary skill set for detecting (mis)information online. The effects or outcomes of our project involve higher (digital) competence, social inclusion, employability, and self-esteem of the participants, as well as a better self-image and wider social network. In the course of the exchange, the participants also produced their own creative project (short film), which can serve as an excellent reference of international importance and as a historic testament to the post-corona 'zeitgeist'. Apart from that, the project gave the youngsters a training opportunity to improve their theoretical and practical skills in media literacy and creative filmmaking tools (CFTs). The basic aim of the workshops was to give the youth an initial insight into the world of film, which goes beyond mere 'consumption' of film products, but empowers them to take up an active role in the filmmaking process. Workshops and lectures equiped them with the necessary knowledge of and experience in the broad field of film and other related visual forms of expression, which they will, hopefully, apply in pursuing their own projects and concepts.
