Objectives

The project was conceived during the Covid-19 epidemic, when strict measures were taken to contain the spread of the virus. Measures affected all aspects of life and affected entire population, including young people, although not a lot of attention was paid to them. However, especially the young people faced many obstacles and challanges during the epidemis, such as problems related to their studies, socialising, personal development and development of their identity, finding opportunities and transitioning to adult life, etc. The absence of social contacts and the worrying about the future, the question of employment, finding accommodation, building a family, etc., also had a greater impact on the well-being of young people during the epidemic, who found themselves in very precarious situations. Young people from economically weaker and other marginalised groups were the most affected. The project therefore wanted to give young people from the four participating countries the opportunity to build relations with their peers both internationally and within their countries, to strengthen their feeling of solidarity and mutual support, to develop new skills and their personalities, to find new opportunities and to identify areas in which they would like to be more involved. The project primarily aimed at helping young people to catch up on what they have missed over the last year and a half, to highlight the problems they face, which have been exacerbated during Covid-19, to get to know young people from other countries and to learn about the problems they face, to acquire skills to address them and to contribute to their solution. The project was therefore deliberately designed to be very broad in scope, allowing young people to be involved in the selection of topics and themes that they themselves want to address and to plan and implement the activities that the youth find the most suitable to overcome the challanges identified. The aim of the project was thus to create opportunities for young people to get engaged in issues that interest them and to get involed in areas that they identify as problematic both for young people and adults, both locally and more broadly, and that need to be addressed for a better future. One of the main objectives of the project was also to strengthen young people's skills and enable their personal development, in particular in the areas of project planning, project management, project implementation, evaluation, etc. These skills will contribute to improving the employability of the young people involved, their creativity and innovation will be enhanced (by enabling young people to present their ideas, interests, use their skills and express themselves in creative ways, be entrepreneurial, take initiatives, etc.), and social cohesion will be strenghtened (by involving young people from disadvantaged areas or social groups and strengthening their skills). The aim of the project was to raise young people's awareness of the importance of active citizenship, to strengthen solidarity and intercultural dialogue and to enable young people to test themselves as active (European) citizens, thus promoting the values promoted by the European Union. The project also aimed to promote solidarity, inclusion, interconnectedness among young people, regardless of their background and country of origin. The aim was for young people to contribute to positive change in their local and wider communities through their projects, thus promoting solidarity among the population, especially among young people.
