The idea of the project was to learn about and develop sustainable practices at both the organizational and individual levels. The needs come from the young people we work with. The climate crisis affects all of us, but most of all young people, who face an uncertain future with worrying predictions for the planet. Research shows that half of young people feel anxiety about the climate crisis on a daily basis. This creates a strong need for young people to engage in this area and create change at both a systemic and individual level. It is also important for young LGBTIQ+ people that their LGBTIQ+ identity and their concern for the planet and the struggle to preserve it are not, and cannot be, completely separate poles of their lives. Their engagement and activism in the LGBTIQ+ sphere, like all spheres of life, must take into account the principles of nature conservation and planet protection. Project objectives: 1. To learn about and develop good practices for sustainable action in activism. Through creative workshops, we explored with young people ways to incorporate sustainable practices into their lives - e.g., how to make materials used in activism in sustainable ways (banners, flags, badges, t-shirts, other gadgets...) and also what practices to follow in our private (or office) life (where and what to buy, reuse, upcycling...). We also looked at how to run the Pride parade with a smaller carbon footprint and explored the links between the LGBTIQ+ community and the fight against climate change. 2. Communicating with decision-makers to present young people's concerns, needs and suggestions In small events, two-way communication between young people and decision-makers (environmental organizations, scientists and experts, reporters and journalists, politicians, influencers, activists, etc.) took place in a relaxed atmosphere. Young people were able to present their concerns and needs, express their (dis)satisfaction with the measures, make suggestions... Decision-makers were able to present the broader context of the issue, present their work and knowledge... At the final symposium, we addressed the topic with decision-makers in even broader and more detailed terms, and presented it to a wider audience, including the conclusions we had reached at previous events. 3. Mobilising young people to participate in the elections and informing them about the candidates on the basis of their attitudes, policies, and planned actions in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection. At the level of the national, presidential, and local elections, we have monitored and highlighted the sustainability and environmental protection aspects of the various political programs. We consider it important that young people participate in elections at all and thus have an active say in their future, and it is crucial that they are well-informed about the issues they consider important and the implications that different political choices may have for the future of the planet.
