Objectives

Each of the partner organizations held a local dissemination event aimed at local and national representatives of the youth sector, LGBTIQ+ organizations, and professional public. In addition, we organized an international dissemination event in Brussels in collaboration with ILGA Europe and FEANTSA, where we also hosted representatives of European organizations and a member of the European Parliament. With the dissemination conferences, we concluded the circle of advocacy actions and formulated proposals and recommendations for strengthening youth policies and measures at the level of youth work development, which we submitted to the relevant institutions.

Background

The project idea was formed based on practical experiences indicating the critical oversight of housing issues among young individuals, especially LGBTIQ+ youth, who are at an increased risk of homelessness and housing exclusion due to social circumstances. In addition to addressing various risk factors among young LGBTIQ+ individuals through diverse activities and project outcomes, the project also tackled the fact that many organizations addressing homelessness lack specific services for youth. Within the project, we addressed needs at various levels, from the individual level of young LGBTIQ+ individuals facing housing exclusion to the organizational needs of LGBTIQ+ organizations, homelessness organizations, and youth organizations coming to the aid of housing-excluded young LGBTIQ+ individuals, as well as broader needs for raising awareness among professionals and the general public about the issue and the necessity of systemic addressing of it. We paid special attention to empowering the youth sector for informed action in the areas of preventive support for social inclusion and advocacy at the local, national, and European levels.
