By implementing the project, we wanted to increase awareness of digital transformation within our membership base as well as outside. Moreover, we wanted to create a simple and comprehensible educational program that would actually enable the target group to quickly navigate through the areas in which the digitalization could increase their business performance and thereby support competitiveness. That is, to provide basic knowledge on the topic available to a wide range of companies operating in the sector and outside of the sector as well as to individuals. For this reason, we have set the goals we wanted to achieve by implementing this project: to raise awareness of digital transformation through the development of digital readiness of companies and VET workplace in the form of an educational program and to disseminate the project results as well.
Both ZEP SR and ElA ČR have a wide membership base comprised of the companies operating in the electronic and electrotechnical industry. Most of them are also participating in vocational education and training. We maintain regular contact with our members to discuss wide range of topics such as digitalization being a necessity in the sector. Furthermore, it is fundamental for ensuring competitiveness and market persistence. It has been found that majority of the companies lack the information on digitalization and subsequent implementation of such process within their structures. We have noticed an actual demand for the basic education in the area whether in Slovakia or Czech Republic. We had a chance to share our activities, experience and member’s issues with our long-term partner organization EIA ČR at the electrotechnical conference organized by ZEP SR. It was at this conference that we came up with the idea of a joint project that would support digitalization among our members and other companies that do not operate in the sector. We focused on the ultimate need of the members namely to provide the basic information on digitalization. As project partners, we both have experience with education when it comes to Industry 4.0.
