The aim of the project was to improve the situation and wellbeing of LGBT youth by developing and implementing peer educators programs in SOGIESC with regard to social inclusion and non-discrimination of LGBT people. We planned to achieve this through: a) identification of needs and challenges during peer education interventions b) development of complex framework of rainbow peer education (PE) methodology with regards to topics of SOGIESC, social inclusion and nondiscrimination c) Implementation and piloting of rainbow peer education programs based on previously elaborated methodology d) creation of a network of organisations working with peer education methodology aimed at social inclusion and non-discrimination of LGBT+ people across Europe e) exchange of best practices of creation, development and implementation of rainbow peer education programs in various contexts and European countries
We applied for this project because we planned to contribute to improvement of ability of young prople and professionals working with young people to respond to the changes and needs which have to do more with the intersectional competences and willingness of each professional to learn from young people. One of RPF’s objectives was to provide space for peer-learning, creation of networks and sharing of experience and good practices within non-profit organisations involved in providing affirmative and inclusive educational services for young people. This project responded to the needs of partner organisations (including the applicant) to build and improve their capacity to provide services with better quality in order to bring a long-lasting impact. Statistics show that discrimination on the ground of SOGIESC still persists.
