Objectives

Global warming's main cause is the increasing greenhouse effect, primarily due to carbon emissions, known as carbon footprint. Since more than half of greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, reducing carbon dioxide emissions is crucial in combating global warming. Carbon footprint measures the damage inflicted on the environment in terms of carbon dioxide emissions resulting from human activities. It has two components: primary and secondary footprint. The primary footprint consists of "direct" CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels used for household energy consumption and transportation (cars, planes, etc.). The secondary footprint includes "indirect" CO2 emissions from the production processes of products we use, as well as their subsequent use, waste disposal, and decay processes. In our project, our aim was to emphasize the importance of the issue to our participants and the people they interact with through activities. During the project, participants were provided with technical information on topics such as Global Warming, Greenhouse Effect, and Carbon Footprint. They were encouraged to calculate their own carbon footprints and engage in discussions using unconventional learning methods, fostering awareness and motivating them to take action in this regard. Through these activities, we aimed not only to ensure the sustainability of our project but also to encourage participants to apply the knowledge and experience they gained in their daily lives. Young people participating in Erasmus+ Project activities were expected to recognize the relationship between their Ecological Footprint awareness and environmentally friendly behaviors. Evaluating these trends aimed to reduce the Ecological Footprint and develop environmentally friendly behaviors. Encouraging participants, especially young people, to integrate this knowledge into their future behaviors will enhance the long-term impact of your project. Another objective was to make participants aware that project involvement was not limited to activity times but also included their travels. For this purpose, project activities were planned to be carried out as Green Travel. This way, participants would learn about the importance of the subject through firsthand experiences, taking the first step towards awareness.
