Objectives

In line with the European Youth Goals of “Moving Rural Youth forward”, “Quality Employment for All”, “Quality Learning”, “Space and Participation for All” and “Sustainable Green Europe”, it is aimed to strengthen and encourage young people living in rural and metropolitan areas and to point out agriculture as an alternative career option. We expected the project to raise awareness in smart agriculture in order to develop a solution to the youth unemployment problem in participating countries. Youth workers working and making researches in the smart agriculture field are taken into consideration as intermediary agents. First, we aimed to develop skills of youth workers to reach the abovementioned targets and target groups. Youth workers whom we have chosen as participants have been in touch with young people and have the opportunity to transfer the information and experience that they achieved. During the project event, we wanted youth workers to improve their skills on digital, smart agriculture, update their knowledge, share information and learn new smart agriculture and environmentally friendly practices. We aimed to share the knowledge they have gained with young farmers and farmer candidates through the dissemination of the project. We wanted young farmers whose families are engaged in traditional agriculture to be aware of the practices that will lead them to change their habits. We aimed to disseminate the knowledge and good practices learned after the project activity in their own institutions and to convey them to youth workers and youth that are employed in the field of agriculture who cannot participate in the project activity. We focused on the long-term results following the activity rather than the short-term effects of the project. With our project, which aims to contribute to reducing youth unemployment by increasing the attractiveness of rural settlements and carrying rural youth further, we expected to disseminate the knowledge and experience of youth workers to develop, strengthen entrepreneurship capability and increase employability of young people. We aimed to sow the seeds of future projects through the new relationships that youth workers will establish during the event in which they are going to witness European culture in a multicultural environment and improve their language skills. Within the framework of the partnership, in which universities, academies, research centers, non-governmental organizations and public institutions come together and are included, by considering the gender equality between men and women in the participants and by adopting a transparent and fair way in the selection of the participants, we wanted to provide that the project activity allows each institution to share information and opinions with each other. With the project, we aimed to improve the individual, social, professional, academic, language skills and knowledge of youth workers and thus to improve the capacity of the institutions they are affiliated with. We wanted youth workers to share their knowledge and experiences with their peers and indirectly influence the work and practices of the youth workers they share. We expected our project to have an impact on the development of smart agricultural practices and youth employment through local and international dissemination activities, combining traditional agriculture with smart and environmentally friendly practices, enabling young farmers to adapt to the Age of Agriculture 4.0, encouraging investments to be made in this field, and adopting and developing a sustainable agricultural management. We aim to promote the adoption of digital approaches with smart agriculture. In order to ensure the continuity and productivity of the project partnerships after the project, we aimed to keep the communication channel alive, to increase the motivation of the participants with an interactive work, and to develop the content of the event in a way that will contribute to their personal and institutional capacities. We planned to enrich the content of the project by constantly consulting with the participants and our project partners. By presenting the project content to the participants with non-formal education methods, we expected to improve their learning and teaching habits. While aiming for youth workers, young farmers and young farmer candidates to benefit from the event, we planned to focus on new project ideas, including the participation of policy makers, for the sustainability of the project.
