Objectives

The goal we want to achieve while creating our project is; To educate and raise awareness of personnel working in the construction industry and students who will become Civil Engineers in the future, in order to recycle construction and demolition waste. By achieving this goal, we will contribute to the 70% recycling target within the scope of the EU's Waste Framework Directive. In addition, our project will contribute to the goal of repairing, recycling and reusable products and preventing climate change within the scope of the 2050 target of the European Green Deal. In this context, our project is directly linked to the priorities "Energy and Resources" and "Green Skills". With our project, we aim to use energy resources correctly and train employees with green environmental awareness.

Background

Every year, millions of tons of solid waste are generated around the world, especially in densely populated areas. 25% to 40% of all solid waste produced in the world consists of construction and demolition waste. In terms of a sustainable environment, the greatest need of countries and our country is to recycle structural wastes that cause environmental problems in order to reduce the consumption of natural resources and use them efficiently. One of the main reasons why Turkey is inadequate in the recycling of structural waste is that students who will work in the construction industry and employees at all levels who are actively involved in the construction industry have not received any training in this field and are unaware of the recycling of structural materials. In our country, starting from the field of construction technology in vocational high schools, Vocational School construction departments, civil engineering, architecture, environmental engineering etc. in universities. Students who will be employed in the construction industry do not receive any courses, seminars or training in the field of structural waste recycling.
