Objectives

The main objective of the project was to create a comprehensive and impactful learning experience through events organized across seven different countries. These events were attended by doctors, medical students, pharmacists, nurses, psychologists, social workers and youth workers. By sharing the project's insights and success stories, it aimed to serve as a valuable reference for other countries and organizations facing similar challenges. This approach was intended to enable other communities to draw from the project’s achievements and replicate similar successes. The project’s programs sought to spotlight organizations that have achieved notable results in migrant health and integration through innovative and sustainable methods. Participants who visited these countries gained the opportunity to observe each country’s demographic structure, socio-cultural characteristics, living standards, and cultural diversity, therefore gaining a deeper understanding. There were also group works, roleplays, and research activities that were conducted in order to draw inspiration from the methods used by organizations with success stories.

Background

The project brought together NGOs and universities from Turkiye, Germany, France, Austria, Norway, Portugal, and Bosnia and Herzegovina to examine and discuss the access of refugees and migrants to healthcare systems and psychosocial support mechanisms. This collaboration aimed to emphasize the health and psychosocial needs of migrants and refugees, as well as to highlight effective integration policies. Each of the participating countries played an important role in showcasing best practices regarding access to their national health services and psychosocial support mechanisms. Throughout this process were shared policies, integration strategies, and examples of practices supporting migrants and refugees' access to essential services. The project also aimed to raise awareness among youth workers and young people, equipping them with the tools necessary to better support refugee and migrant communities. These initiatives were designed to strengthen the role of young people in supporting integration processes and to underscore the importance of health equity and psychosocial well-being for migrants and refugees across Europe.
