Objectives

Our student's needs in mind we set the following goals for the project: We aimed to promote the linguistic competences of our students and also wanted to implement scientific and ecological projects that promote awareness of resource conservation, environmental protection and sustainability. In addition to that, we also thought about the acquirements for our teachers and determined the following: We wanted to make it possible for our teachers to participate in further training and - especially on basis of cultural exchange - also have the possibility to exchange about teaching methods and school systems within the EU. For both - students and teachers - we set the additional aim to develope and improve digital competences.

Background

Our project "Mit Sprache zur Naturwissenschaft" aimed to combine two of our main goals in school education: As a secondary school we train our students for their future lives and especially for their future studies and training programs. Therefore it is highly important for us to encourage the students to get to know as much languages and cultures as possible. In our school, beside the classical timetables, we also offer a bilingual class from the first school year on to encourage the students from their very start at our school to learn and also live foreign languages. Furthermore, we are pursuing our goal to develop a high level of science knowledge. Therefore we already participated on several competitions and - thanks to Erasmus + - also on an international conference. The Erasmus + project made it possible for us to merge our main two goals in one point and combine learning languages with learning science. In addition to this one must keep in mind, that to educate openminded children it is also important to continuously enabling further training for our teachers, which we could also support thanks to Erasmus + activities like job shadowing and courses.
