The following three objectives were defined in the project proposal: 1) Digital content, new technologies and practices. Application of new production methods and contemporary programming methods. programming methods: The project was divided into two phases separated by time and location: Phase 1 at LBS 1 in Graz and Phase 2 at BS 2 in Nuremberg. All steps up to the completion of the robot-assisted assembly device were carried out using digital aids and state-of-the-art methods 2) European identity - European consciousness and democracy as identity-forming factors. Europe as a living and working space. The two phases mentioned above were carried out in Graz and Nuremberg respectively. In both phases all participating apprentices (from AT) and trainees (from DE) were on site and worked together to make the project a success. Different technical and organisational opinions had to be discussed together and decisions had to be made democratically. 3) New learning and teaching methods and approaches. Due to the project design the teachers and the apprentices were on a hierarchical level. The classic teacher-pupil relationship did not exist.
The Landesberufsschule Graz 1 (LBS1) is a vocational school with apprentices mainly from industry. The apprenticeship Mechanical Engineering Technician, extended by the special module Automation Technology, is the basis for the subject-specific goals of the project because of its curricular contents. Building on this foundation, the project was planned with our partner institution. There is no robotics laboratory at LBS 1, so the cooperation with Vocational School 2 in Nuremberg is an ideal complement to the possibilities at LBS1.
