Objectives

"Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." - The World Health Organization constitution states. Our project proposes to provide some responses to work towards better health for youth and youth workers on the 3 aspects highlighted by this definition. We believe, as youth workers being in touch with youth on a daily basis, that health is the gateway to balance and happiness. If youngsters and youth workers are not living with their fullest vibrancy and energy, how can we expect them to make the best of their life, to provide help to other people and act as a balanced person towards the community at large? The main aim of our project was to increase the quality of youth work by providing a complex learning experience for youth workers and young people so they can better understand the importance of Life Balance and Mental Health in their life and use that knowledge in their daily work. Our objectives were to: 1. Increase awareness about the importance of the continuum between Life Balance and Mental Health among youth workers and young people 2. Develop the professional capacities of young workers in designing and implementing activities promoting Life Balance/Mental Health among young people, based on non-formal education methods 3. Exchange practices and experiences on Life Balance/Mental Health among youth workers and young people from different countries. 4. Develop and disseminate a pocket guide and affirmation cards on promoting Life Balance and Mental Health During the 2 phases of our project we all worked together to develop a pocket guide for youth and youth workers. The pocket guide is dedicated to Life Balance and Mental Health contains sections about: basic concepts, tools and practical strategies, motivational exercises, workshops, challenges and other tips for the body and the mind. TC1 we worked on developing the section on Life Balance while on TC2 we focused on the Mental Health part and the finalisation of the output. We had a clear idea of what we wanted to implement as youth workers in terms of content for this pocket guide but we nonetheless wished to stay open to any other suggestions in terms of content from our participants during the implementation of the project. Their ideas were really interesting and the co creation process was quite fruitful and pleasurable. Partners and participants actually helped us upgrade the final output.
