BasketRoll has been designed as a multidisciplinary Project of very specific purpose and, potentially, high impact. Working in the field of inclusion often implies designing projects for people with disabilities but does not mean working together with them on implementing these projects. BasketRoll has been developed by the young people with disabilities, designed for their peers of mixed ability and for the decision makers of not only three countries participating in the project but for the European stakeholders as well. Partner organisations have chosen wheelchair basketball as an efficient instrument to drowe attention to the potential young people with disabilities have in them. To that, group sport activity such as this one can be used as a powerful catalyst to ignite discussion on the topics of great significance and importance for young people with disabilities: obstacles in social and professional life these young people are facing, as well as the stereotypes they are fighting. By including wider population into it (especially in BasketRoll main YPE, as it is foreseen), partner organisations are securing greater visibility of the group leading the Project and of the problems they are encountering, bigger impact of the Project and its message, and effective inclusion of this targeted group into society. BasketRoll Project aims to establish long-lasting relationship with youth community of mixed ability for its participants based on trust and understanding of specific needs while working in an open and inclusive environment, to treat young people with disabilities with respect and dignity, and to make sure always to involve them in the decisions that affect them.
