The main objectives of the project were to facilitate academic exchange and institutional cooperation between Universitaet Klagenfurt (UNI-KLU) and partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from Cameroon, DR Congo, Egypt, Georgia, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam in areas of mutual interest and complementarity. Given the extensive network of partner universities included in the project, the initial objectives were twofold: To establish cooperation on an institutional level with new partners through Erasmus+ KA 171 and to intensify collaboration with long-standing, established partners. The project application defined a range of important strategic and academic goals, reflecting the diversity of partner universities and regions. From academic perspective there was a strong focus on Technical Sciences throughout the project. In geographical terms, the Global South and Ukraine constituted two major focus areas, defining the relevant educational as well as humanitarian dimensions of the project. The project outline was significantly affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine and the conflict in DR Congo, which required adaptive planning (and flexible coordination). (for details see next section)
