The overall goal of the project was to identify good practice in non-formal education for democratic culture and intercultural dialogue in an online environment. The aim was to allow non formal educational trainers who work in in the field of democracy education and intercultural learning to connect and to profoundly exchange experiences on design and quality assurance of digital methods. One of the main objectives was to produce a high-quality handbook supporting educators to innovate with training activities in digital settings. So the aim of the project digiversity was to contribute to digital transformation through development of digital competences, exchange of educators and the development of methods.
The Covid 19 pandemic accelerated the use of digital tools in training and required many previously face to face training to be quickly transferred to online formats. Especially in topics like intercultural competence, anti-discrimination, human rights education or democracy education, new questions and challenges have arisen for educators: • How can topics whose didactic principles are based on direct contact between people be addressed in effective learning activities in the digital space? • How can competences for democratic culture be developed with online tools and formats, in a way that is suitable for specific target groups? We applied for this project to develop strategies and methods together with our project partner with the aim to share them with educators. We are convinced that educators and padagogues need assistence in the use of digital methods and the development of competences for demoratic culture. The survey which was developed and implemented helped us to identify the specific competences needed by educators to skilfully design and facilitate non-formal educational activities.
