The main objective of Teach2Learn was to equip primary school teachers with innovative tools and methods to enhance reading comprehension among students in grade 2 to 4, particularly those from migrant, minority, and multilingual backgrounds. The project aimed to strengthen teachers' competencies by creating a methodological assessment tool and a structured training program with two levels of proficiency. A key outcome of the project was the development of the Story Box, which includes age-appropriate texts and exercises in fiction, science, and media literacy. This initiative was complemented by an interactive online platform that consolidates all resources into one accessible environment. These tools not only enhanced comprehension skills but also fostered creativity, critical thinking, and cross-curricular connections. The project promoted inclusive teaching, reduced educational disadvantages, and helped prevent early school leaving by ensuring equal opportunities for all learners. It also fostered cooperation among schools, universities, and education authorities, creating a sustainable network and supporting European priorities in innovation, peer exchange, and transferable practices.
The Teach2Learn project aims to support Europe’s multilingual and multicultural classrooms. Many students in grade 2 to 4 struggle with reading comprehension when their home language differs from the language of instruction, affecting their academic performance and social integration. Furthermore, many families lack the resources to support their children's reading development, highlighting the importance of parental engagement. Teachers often do not have access to specialized training, structured methodologies, or adaptable resources, and traditional teaching approaches are inadequate to meet diverse needs. These challenges are evident across the consortium countries: in Austria, there is a need to support migrant pupils; in Bulgaria, there is limited access to modern teaching tools; in Luxembourg, classrooms are highly multilingual; in Portugal and Spain, motivating disadvantaged learners is essential; and in Türkiye, there is a need to integrate growing numbers of pupils from migrant families. Teach2Learn was created to provide innovative resources that enhance teacher competencies, motivate students, and engage families in the learning process.
