ULB pursued two objectives with the 2022 edition of AC171. The first aimed to support the CIVIS European University Alliance and its expansion to six African partners (Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Uganda, Mozambique, South Africa). The funding enabled these institutions to be invited to ULB to formalize their integration into the alliance and develop partnerships with interested faculties. A second phase planned to invite students from these universities to take part in the CIVIS Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs). Part of the funds was also to be reserved for future projects to be defined based on needs identified during initial meetings. The second objective focused on supporting academic staff in faculty-led initiatives with established partners in Brazil, Albania, Lebanon, Georgia, Burundi, and Togo, with the aim of strengthening existing collaborations.
