Objectives

The primary objective of CivicGreen is to promote active citizenship and environmental awareness, enabling individuals to effectively participate in democratic processes and address ecological challenges. By developing a competence framework, MOOCs, and a civic monitoring tool, the project aims to equip educators, professionals, and citizens with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in environmental actions. Additional goals include enhancing community collaboration, raising awareness about sustainability, and fostering a European dimension of cooperation to collectively combat climate change and strengthen democratic participation.

Background

The CivicGreen project was initiated to foster civic engagement in tackling environmental challenges, recognizing the critical need for active public participation to achieve Green Deal targets. This need arose from a Eurobarometer survey highlighting the lack of sufficient efforts by citizens and organizations to address environmental issues. The project aims to bridge the divide between activists and sceptics, emphasizing dialogue and shared responsibility. It focuses on empowering citizens with knowledge, skills, and tools to engage in environmental policies and projects, ensuring societal cohesion and stronger civic democracy for a sustainable future.
