Our European Development Plan, which is anchored in the multi-year plan, describes four major challenges facing the school. These challenges came about after questioning staff members and an organisational SWOT analysis. We have translated these challenges into four objectives that we want to work on through internationalisation, among other things. - Managing diversity better in the classroom and at school level (due to the permanent influx of new non-native speakers and pupils from different social, cultural and linguistic backgrounds, there is a great need to work on differentiation). - Making quality assurance manageable (A stimulating learning climate, talent-oriented work and coaching are a central theme within Hivset's educational vision). - Giving a powerful boost to a stimulating learning climate by focusing on new learning and teaching methods (in the hope of meeting the large number of pupils who leave school early without a diploma or are insufficiently qualified). - Developing and fostering a resilient learning climate and deepening psychological well-being. All with the central aim of achieving lifelong learning within a European context.
Hivset is a school for (post-)secondary education, with a wide variety of care courses. In secondary there is a strong focus on various learning needs with several projects such as OKAN in secondary and Zorgportaal in post-secondary. Several 7th years and SENSE courses are also being set up. To innovatively meet the needs of the professional field, pathways are also offered where a combination of work and learning is possible, such as dual learning and the work and learn and distance learning pathway. There is also close cooperation with Vormingscentrum Hivset, which offers a wide range of training courses and expertise. Our student population is very diverse. The age start at 12 until higher ages. The common trait of all our pupils/students is that they all choose care. One more important aspect to give as background is the evolution the internationalisation coordinators went through during the project. The application started as a copy/paste of a previous project, as it were, because both coordinators were completely new to internationalisation. Gradually, they got to know all the partners better, and also got to know new ones. The goals pursued remained the same, but sometimes a different partner was chosen to achieve them.
