Objectives

The project aimed to develop a European, fully integrated package that would enable schools to design, implement and monitor CLIL in a high-quality manner. We wanted to (1) formulate a shared vision of high-quality CLIL education, (2) offer teachers, school leaders and coordinators concrete and applicable tools, (3) develop a quality framework for internal and external quality assurance, (4) strengthen inclusive and language-aware teaching methods, and (5) stimulate the professional growth of entire school teams. By combining these outputs into a single 'One Stop CLIL Europe' concept, we wanted to enable schools to better implement their curriculum, increase pupils' language skills and strengthen cooperation within school teams and between countries.

Background

We submitted this project because there was a clear need across Europe for high-quality, coherent and accessible CLIL support for primary and secondary schools. The partners' joint needs analyses showed that schools are struggling with a lack of clear quality frameworks, insufficient expertise in CLIL teaching methods, limited cooperation within school teams and major differences in CLIL implementation between countries. There was no European, integrated set of tools that could guide schools and teachers in a whole-school approach, including quality assurance, language-aware teaching, didactic guidelines and monitoring. With this project, we wanted to fill this gap and support schools in realising inclusive, effective and sustainable CLIL programmes.
