Our main objective was to develop different non-formal tools and methodologies that empower and support educators, teachers and youth workers in working with youngsters (ages 13-15) on career guidance with a focus on sustainable jobs and skills. These professionals have access to a whole range of open-access tools and methodologies through our project website alphafutureskills.eu . The materials are flexible and applicable as a combined experience and as loose materials to choose closer to their classes' needs, allowing them to bridge the gap between education and the green labour market. Each partner developed a tool or methodology close to their own expertise through a structured local and international co-creation process involving both students and professionals. This ensures the tools are applicable to various national contexts and learner profiles, including those with special educational needs. Different adaptations of the materials are also offered to serve as inspiration and to promote the transferability of the results across Europe. These tools and methodologies were gathered in a Guidebook as a means to distribute them online, along with all the open access materials as downloadable files and videos.
As professionals who work with youngsters (ages 13-15) every day, we see that they are often forced to make pivotal study choices without adequate tools to understand where these choices lead in a rapidly changing world. We were motivated to create career guidance tools and methodologies that could be part of the solution to this challenge. AlphaSkills addresses the need for innovative career guidance which integrates sustainability and green skills, as these fields and competences are reshaping future job opportunities. We also adressed the labor market's need to find qualified personnel by fostering self-awareness and green skills through non-formal education and hands-on experiential learning. Finally, we addressed different needs within the participating organisations. The greatest need being empowering educators with ready-to-use and transferable tools that bridge the gap between education and labour market. This allows our organisations to innovate and to reach more youngsters and positively influence their study and career choices.
