Objectives

This European project is part of an international project that will bring together between 500 and 600 youth workers from Europe, Africa, Indian Ocean, Asia, South and North America. It will take place on the CERIA campus in Brussels from October 28 to November 1, 2022. Carried by a collective of associations from the New Education movement at the international level, it aims tò bring together youth workers: practitioners and pedagogues to rethink education in a global approach, throughout life, in a perspective of transformation of educational practices that bring individual and collective emancipation and social transformation. These associations are members of three international networks: the International Federation of Modern School Movements (FIMEM), the International Federation of CEMEA (FICEMEA), and LIEN (Lien International d'Education Nouvelle). They refer to a common base, the New Education, thought developed in Europe at the beginning of the 20th century at the initiative of scientists and pedagogues (Piaget, Wallon, Montessori...) The needs concern the necessity of a collective reflection on the specificitý of youth workers relying on a pedagogy of New Education in the accompaniment of young people in precarious economic, social, family situations. We will study the learning conditions of these young people and the complementaritý between formal and non-formal educational spaces dedicated to youth. Three objectives: . To share the fundamentals of the New Education in order to build a common culture at the international level: conferences and contributions of experts intervening in the debates will help. . To share practices for a co-training of youth workers from different countries and associations: the "testimonies of practices" will allow to discover projects, approaches and actions. . Debate the "challenges of our societies" affecting youth: 20 themes have been selected by the steering committee. The "practice exchange" workshops will be enriched by theoretical contributions and reflections from eminent intellectuals participating in the biennial event, either as speakers at the conferences or as experts on the social issues being debated. The articulation between theory and practice is the foundation of the crucible of social transformation. Four axes of reflection to question the question of the accompaniment of young people : . Knowledge & emancipation by and for young people . New Education & educational innovation . New education & training . Cultural creation as a support for the accompaniment of young people. The project will have a local impact by sharing a better local understanding of youth issues in view of the international experience. On the other hand, training youth workers will have an impact on the emancipation of young people: the development of skills will change practices and give more space to young people or new possibilities.  This project will result in the internationalization of youth issues through the partnership between associations from different movements and countries, the development of other European projects and the involvement of young people with fewer opportunities in these projects.
