Objectives

The world and Europe are currently confronted with a range of global challenges and environmental issues. The detrimental effects of increasing overproduction and overconsumption on our environment sparked the inception of our project, which aims to collaborate with partner organizations in order to be agents of change. Our experience in youth work has revealed that young people are growing increasingly concerned about environmental issues each year. However, there is a need for practical knowledge to support young individuals in actively addressing the escalating environmental problems in their local communities, as well as equipping them with the ability to spread awareness about sustainable lifestyles to others. Following our meetings with partner organizations in the AoW project, we reached a consensus that art possesses immense potential for engaging society and fostering awareness. Consequently, we made the decision to connect the theme of recycling with art. The AoW youth project sought to share new techniques, concepts, and approaches with young people through enjoyable activities that repurpose waste materials, with the ultimate goal of promoting the European Green Deal and sustainable lifestyles. Moreover, we aimed to encourage and attract individuals to adopt more eco-friendly consumption habits through creative recycling. Throughout the AoW project, we worked towards achieving the following objectives: - Raising awareness among 37 participants from 7 participating organizations about the potential of art and creativity as a means to promote sustainable lifestyles. - Empowering young people with creative skills in recycling and media content creation to make an impact on their local communities. - Presenting the 10th European Youth Goal, Sustainable Green Europe, in an appealing manner through art and recycling. - Enhancing participants' knowledge in media and promotion to effectively disseminate the project's outcomes on a broader scale. - Promoting opportunities for young people in the Erasmus+ program and non-formal education, thereby motivating them to participate in future projects.
