As innocent people around the world have been increasingly losing their lives in racially-motivated terrorist attacks, we strived to implement a project that was impactful for society in such a way that our worries about the future of our countries and cities were soothed. With the films and animations which were shot by the participants after observing a peaceful life of Muslims and other religions in a Christian country and the peaceful coexistence of Christians and other religions in a Muslim country, the participants first broke their prejudies and with these films that became widespread, the prejudices of societies around the world were broken. The second activity was in an Asian country (Turkey), the participants were in Hatay, which has a large variety of historic and cultural richness. The earthquake happened in Hatay in February caused a huge loss, historical and holly places destroyed. The second activity in Hatay was arranged in very hard conditions. The city of Oostduinkerke has been hosting many different cultures and Hatay has been a host to numerous ancient and modern civilisations for over 23 centuries and it was known worldwide as a capital of tolerance, untouched by ethnic and religious differences. There are more than 400000 refugees, people of varying religions and wildly different cultures who live together in harmony. Before the planned second activity, one of the greatest earthquake happened in Hatay ; we lost most of our people and living areas. We could carried out this project even in the hardest conditions thanks to the motivation and tenacity of the participants. These cities truly can be one of the most important examples of enduring peace in the world. As a NGO in Edegem (Antwerp) and Hatay, we believed that this tolerance has been entrusted to us by our ancestors. In the Tolerance+ Movies Youth Exchange Programme, the participants produced 6 short films and 6 animations in Oostduinkerke and Hatay covering topics such as tolerance, peace and acceptance as a way to more effectively spread our message. It had rapidly become clear that the use of social media and other visual/auditory online tools were the best way to reach large masses of people. With the support of the press and TV broadcasters, we were able to reach a large audience with our works. This project focused on the actual shooting of short films, the final products were expected to be professional and effective, because the six short films and animations were specifically targeting one theme, the potency of their message were amplified. Short films were produced in English but to create a strong and accessible message, all animations were made without the exclusion of any language. Young people between the ages of mostly 18-30 from countries and nationalities with different faiths came together to end the increasing racism and prejudice, terrorist incidents, and helped to increase tolerance to differences. They came together and gained experience of observing people's lives in peace in an environment with different religions with the help of Erasmus+ programmes and Youth pass. They were informed about the objectives of the Erasmus+ programme. There were a training presentation and workshop. Thus, before the participants recognized the differences, it was ensured that these terms were mastered and the misunderstood perceptions in the society were destroyed. By film shooting techniques and the use of technical materials and script by the film directors who are experienced in film shooting by providing training on writing, the participants gained new knowledge and experience, and thus the films and animations to be produced were more professional. With the work, the participants gained self-confidence, learned and developed skills with improvisation. They gained their first experience of using the camera and acting while they were being recorded. They made interviews on tolerance, peace and tolerance with religious leaders of different faiths, visited religious places of different religions. Thus, the participants gained an intense experience of learning by living, without being afraid of differences and gaining the perception that they are rich.
