First of all we really want to stress out that this was a YOUTH project (Youth Exchange) - KA152-YOU - written by youngsters living in Belgium, in collaboration with the young people from our international partners (the other partner organisations) of this project (from Estonia, Poland and Romania). This project was a youth project, written by young people, addressed to international young people. The main idea of this project was the theme of volunteering. Generally, organizations need volunteers to be able to grow and to be able to carry out the activities they are proposing. In particular, our informal group of youngsters (that wants to become an organisation in the near future), being a young and more active group in a rural area, feels an even more pressing need for volunteers. Through this project, " Volunteering is The Key ", we aimed to explore the topic of volunteering through various non-formal activities, specific to youth exchange projects. The local community in which the project took place benefit from the fact that young participants (including young people with fewer opportunities) participated in this project. At international level, volunteering is supported by several international institutions or organizations, the most important being the United Nations and the Council of Europe, two organizations particularly active in supporting and promoting volunteering, especially in the late 1990s. Our partners are experienced, who share the same ideas and needs as our organization. Their experience will have an important contribution to the success of our project. Specific objectives of our project: -Exploring the theme of volunteering by using non-formal learning tools and techniques and promoting them as key tools for working with volunteers or volunteering activities during 9 days of working together (including the 2 days of travelling) with a total of 34 participants. -the exchange of non-formal and informal methods used in volunteer activities among the 4 partner organizations through the 34 participants (in total) involved in the 9 day activities, thus developing a mini-network of partners. - Develop a volunteer guide that includes good practices and working methods in the field of volunteering by involving the total number of 34 participants, in the 9 days of activity. The project had a European dimension by involving 4 organizations from 4 different countries, and involving the 34 participants. Our project also seek to improve the level of competence and skills of the participants, as well as to promote participation in democratic life in Europe (central theme is volunteering), active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity (with 18 young people with fewer opportunities) and strengthening the international dimension of youth work (with 4 partner countries). This project, "Volunteering is The Key" took place in the beautiful sea resort of Costinesti, Romania.
