Objectives

The main goal of the project was to combat racism in the Deaf youth community and ultimately eradicate racism in the whole Deaf community. To achieve this, the project had the following objectives: first, to set up guidelines on how to be a more inclusive organization for BIPOC that could be distributed throughout Europe and worldwide. Second, to make EUDY a more inclusive organization by setting up an action plan and setting an example for its member organizations. Third, to train Deaf youth workers of EUDY's full members in anti-racism and make their organizations more inclusive. Fourth, to train Deaf youth workers how to develop activities to spread knowledge about racism and anti-racism. Finally, to empower BIPOC Deaf youth by giving them the opportunity to share their experiences and the tools to recognize and battle their marginalization. The project was part of a one-year-long organisation wide anti-racism work plan aimed at training Deaf youth organizations, Deaf youth workers, and BIPOC youth workers on anti-racism and how to make their organizations more inclusive and welcoming. The project was the last of several short-term projects in the work plan and aimed to bring partners together in one place to close the work plan and disseminate the results throughout Europe.
